Picnics are enjoyable and relaxing any time of the year, but what could possibly beat an autumn picnic? The air is refreshing and just a bit crisp, the sky is blue, and mosquitoes and other uninvited guests are minimal. To add to the atmospheric quality of your outing, leaves in every shade of red, orange, gold, and yellow have dressed the hillsides in their fall best. Before this all-too-brief season ends, pack up a picnic and head for the hills, lakes, rivers, parks, or your own backyard!

We’ve got three ideas for delightful picnic fare and the perfect place to fill your basket—in fact, two of them—Commodities Natural Market in Stowe and Winooski, Vermont, with our thanks to co-owner Audra Hughes for her suggestions.

The Paleo Picnic – for those who love to keep on moving, this basket is filled with satisfying foods to fuel your hike, biking trip, or whatever moves you.
