Casting Call for Othello

Shakespeare On Main Street

Set amidst the political turmoil of contemporary North Africa, from where the famous Moor sprung, we will bring the historic elements of this tale into the moment. Actors (18+ yrs) should prepare a 1-minute monologue from Othello. It does not need to be memorized, just well prepared. Call backs will be on February 1, 10am-12pm, in Rhythm Hall, 2nd Floor, Building #5 at the Howe Center in Rutland. Rehearsals begin June 22, Sunday 6pm to 9pm, and the first performance will be July 25th. Replete with the tumultuous pull between human strength and human frailty, human innocence and vile treachery, the magnificent tragedy of Othello, by William Shakespeare, will stir the human heart and awaken a greater personal awareness in both the players and the audience. Be part of this breakthrough and searing dramatic highlight of Vermont's upcoming season and expand your scope as an actor as you take part in this production with other local actors committed to excelling in their craft.
