Counterpoint Vocal Ensemble
Seasons: A Choral Celebration of the Changing Year
Counterpoint Chorus celebrates the changes of the year with this eclectic and exciting mix. You will hear tangos from Argentina, haiku from Israel, Romantic part-songs from Germany, show tunes from Broadway’s golden age, plus a selection of recent works by local composers depicting Vermont’s own seasonal cycle. The program includes the complete Estaciones Portenas (Seasons of Buenos Aires), a set of four tangos by Argentine master Astor Piazzolla, and Early Morning Mists, an evocative cantata by Israeli composer Yehezkel Braun setting his own seasonal haiku. In addition, there are Romantic partsongs by Felix Mendelssohn and Johannes Brahms, songs from Broadway’s Golden Age, and a selection of recent works depicting Vermont’s own seasonal cycle by local composers Sara Doncaster, Peter Hamlin, Erik Nielsen, Kevin Quigley, and Carol Wood.
